Picture poetry with Olympic style scoring. Winners take home a little cash and a whole lot of street credit. San Jose’s is the fastest growing slam in the Bay Area. Since its MACLA debut one year ago, audience size has tripled and poets have represented San Jose in national and international competitions. It’s time to dust off that notebook and let your words see the light of day. San Jose’s 2008 Indie World Poetry Slam representative David Perez leads this youth spoken word class. Learn some helpful writing tips and performance techniques. All students are encouraged to bring their own work for a close discussion in a supportive environment. |
