Shifting Dreams, Migrating Realities

Issues of immigration, migration and homeland are currently at the forefront of our national debate. As we enter 2008 as an election year, debates on this subject will intensify as the sides become more polarized and immigrant rights marches prevail. MACLA invited nine Bay Area artists to participate in a visual dialogue about the complexities related to migration and immigration. This exhibition features work in a range of media from painting, sculpture, fiber weavings, photography and video by artists Carlos Cartagena, Antonio Castro, Diana Cristales-David, Katharine Gin, Richard Godinez, Consuelo Jiménez Underwood, Almudena Ortiz, Eugene Rodriguez, Favianna Rodriguez.
